Ops Manager, Inc. is approved by the California Secretary of State to be a registered agent for corporations and LLC’s. Every Corporation and LLC is required to have a registered agent. A registered agent is simply a person or entity that receives lawsuits and other legal documents on behalf of your business.
If someone sues your business, the lawsuit must be personally delivered by a process server, and the date of delivery determines the deadline for filing a response. Other legal documents, such as subpoenas, are also delivered in this manner. In addition, notifications from the Secretary of State and taxing authorities may also be delivered to the registered agent.
As the registered agent, it is our job to accept delivery of the documents and then forward the documents to you in a timely manner. Anyone over the age of 18 residing in California can be appointed as your registered agent, but companies acting as registered agents must be approved by the Secretary of State.
Ops Manager, Inc. (dba Your Ops Manager) has gone through the approval process with the California Secretary of State because we want our clients to have a trustworthy resource for this type of activity. Here is why we think it is important:
- If you or one of your employees are acting as the Registered Agent and your business address is shut down due to COVID, there may not be anyone at the current business address during the day to sign for the documents.
- If you or one of your employees are acting as the Registered Agent, you may suffer embarrassment of having a process server deliver court papers in front of your customers and employees.
- If you do not want your address listed on Secretary of State documents for privacy purposes, you will list our address as registered agent instead.
If you are interested in this service, we charge an annual fee of $49.00 plus any filing fees that may be imposed by the state of California. If you are incorporated in a different state or are registered as a foreign entity in a different state, we can help you find a registered agent in those states. Click here start the process.
